“Enforce” is a tricky word in the context of an accelerator (or VC for that matter). I don’t believe in “enforcing” anything – it’s up to the entrepreneur. I help, support, enable, suggest, coach, cajole, inspire – but never “enforce.”Also – while I’m a co-founder of TechStars, I was really thinking about my VC activity at Foundry Group (www.foundrygroup.com). Several companies that I think are extra-ordinary at UX include MakerBot (www.makerbot.com), Oblong (www.oblong.com), SendGrid (www.sendgrid.com), and Gnip (www.gnip.com). The values above are deeply wired into how the function as companies.
I love this! Awesome idea. I bet UNL would love to get their hands on this. Maybe admissions would put it on their website… well everything but peeing on a coal train. Dangerous!
I also used “Chili made of poo”.What can I say? I’m angry and venting. However, I have a special disclaimer for just such an occasion and I hadn’t put it on this article at the time. I’ve now fixed that so thank you.
I remember the same story a while back when WalMart had opened a Las Vegas area store. These clowns were shipping in scabs that had a 2-hour bus ride to their protest "work location" to decry the poor working conditions at Wal-Mart. Of course, they were stuck by the union in the 100+ degree heat on a sidewalk with no water or plumbing facilities - at minimum wage. Oh, and no pay for the 4 hours on the bus every day.
